Privacy policy

The short version: I only use your information to reply to you and to do the work you've asked for. I don't sell it, share it with my other businesses, or use it for marketing unless you've asked me to.

Who I am

Fletcher Digital is run by Lee Fletcher, 16 Melville Street, Suite 8, Falkirk, FK1 1HZ. In this policy, "I", "me" and "Fletcher Digital" mean the same thing. I'm registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZA368747, and follow UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

If you have any questions about your data, email [email protected].

What I collect

  • Things you tell me. When you fill in a form on this site, email me, or book a call, I'll receive things like your name, email address, phone number, website address and details about your project or business.
  • Things I need to do the work. If you become a client, that can include billing details, logins for your website or hosting, and content you send me for your project.
  • Things your browser sends. Like every website, this one receives technical details such as your IP address and browser type, mostly for security and to keep the site running. With your consent, analytics tools also tell me which pages are visited (see Cookies below).

How I use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and talk about your project (it's in both our interests that I can do that).
  • To provide the services you've hired me for (that's our contract).
  • To send invoices and keep accounts (the law requires me to).
  • To keep this website secure and working (legitimate interests).
  • To understand how the website is used, but only if you accept analytics cookies (consent).
  • To send you occasional updates, but only if you've ticked the box asking for them. You can unsubscribe at any time.

What I don't do

  • I don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
  • I don't share it with my other businesses or products.
  • I don't use it for sales or marketing unless you've opted in.
  • I don't make automated decisions about you.

Who else sees it

I use a small number of trusted services to run the business. They only process your information to provide their service to me:

  • Website hosting, and Cloudflare for security and performance (including the "verify you're human" check on forms).
  • Email and calendar tools, including Google Calendar if you book a call.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics), only if you've accepted analytics cookies.
  • Accounting software and my accountant, for invoices and tax.

I'll also share information if the law requires me to. Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. When they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as approved contract terms.

If I work on your website

When I build, host or maintain a website for you, I may be able to see information about your own customers, such as form submissions or orders. For that information you're in charge (the "controller") and I act on your instructions (the "processor"). I only access it when I need to for the work, and I never use it for anything else.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don't turn into work: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Client records: for as long as we work together, plus up to 6 years for tax and accounting.
  • Marketing updates: until you unsubscribe.

Keeping it safe

I use secure, reputable services, strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and I only keep what I need. No system is perfect, but if something ever went wrong that affected you, I'd tell you and the ICO where the law requires it.

Cookies

This site uses a few essential cookies to work properly and to remember your cookie choices. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie banner's settings.

Your rights

You can ask me to:

  • tell you what information I hold about you and send you a copy
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your information (unless I have to keep it, for example for tax)
  • stop or limit how I use it, or object to it being used
  • send your information to you or someone else in a usable format
  • withdraw any consent you've given

Just email [email protected]. It's free, and I'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please talk to me first. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
